The Layout and Room Configurations
When planning our stays with children, space and layout matter immensely. River Rock divides its nearly 400 rooms across two main structures connected by a Sky Bridge: the Hotel Tower and the Casino Tower. Standard rooms reside in the Hotel Tower, providing options like a 325-square-foot room with two queen beds or a single king bed.
For more space, the Casino Tower consists entirely of suites. The one-bedroom suites measure 525 square feet and feature a separate bedroom along with a queen-sized pull-out sofa in the living area, easily accommodating a family of four. Larger two-bedroom suites expand to 650 square feet for bigger groups. House rules specify a minimum check-in age of 19, matching the provincial age requirement established by the Independent Gambling Control Office. Note that outside food is strictly prohibited in guest rooms, and a daily resort fee applies to all bookings.
Pool and Non-Gaming Activities
The main non-gaming highlight at River Rock is the pool area. It features a water slide and hot tub, open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Access to the pool, slides, hot tub, and the property's fitness centre is included within the daily resort fee. Compare this amenity with other Canadian properties on our pools and water parks guide.
For adult family members who do not gamble, the on-site Absolute Spa on Level 2 features six private treatment rooms offering facials, massages, and body treatments. Additional details on wellness facilities across Canada can be found in our spa days guide. Outside the resort, families can take the SkyTrain to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet or explore Steveston Village along the Richmond waterfront.
Shows and Live Entertainment
Entertainment at the resort centres on the River Rock Show Theatre, a flexible venue that seats up to 965 guests in an auditorium layout or 450 guests in a cabaret setting. The theatre hosts live entertainment. Guests should check individual event listings before purchasing tickets.
Live music is also scheduled inside the lounge areas. To see how River Rock's auditorium compares in size and hosting capability to venues across Canada, explore our section on shows for all ages.
Dining Options for Families
When eating together, families have several distinct options on property. The resort features major dining rooms labeled open to all ages, including Sea Harbour for Cantonese dim sum and KOI for Japanese cuisine. Guests can also visit Gordon Ramsay Steak, which serves dry-aged steaks and signature dishes.
For casual daily meals, Chopsticks Noodle House remains open from 7:00 AM to 3:00 AM, while Zio's serves stone-oven pizzas and Rock House Burger & Fries provides standard quick service. The Chairman's Room offers both an à la carte lounge menu and a popular buffet option. A lobby Starbucks supplies coffee and morning baked goods.
Rules for Minors and Getting Around
British Columbia enforces a strict provincial age limit of 19 for legal gambling. Minors are not permitted on the gaming floor. You can read more about provincial age policies and security protocols in our summary of what minors can and cannot do.
Bridgeport Station on the Canada Line SkyTrain network sits near the resort entrance. From this platform, families can reach Vancouver International Airport by Canada Line or head northbound into downtown Vancouver by Canada Line. Self-parking in the West lot is included in the resort fee, while valet parking is available.
